What's the point of taking hair samples for drug testing?

Why can't they just take urine or blood samples, that can tell you if the drug use is recent or not? When a hair sample is taken, it gives away the past years of history. How is a person who went straight and turned their life around, stopped using drugs for good supposed to have a second chance at a good life if all other people care about is the past?

Actually no, hair testing is very reliable, trace elements and the amount of these elements will prove very well even about how long it has been.

A good lab will know the difference. And it also matters which drugs they are testing for, which method is best to use.

Sounds like grounds for an appeal to me.

George Orwell must be spinning in his grave.

drugs remain in the human hair longer, but it can also be dated like the rings in a tree

Drugs stay in the roots much longer than the blood or urine.

Because people who take drugs can't be trusted. They tend to be liars and have bad judgment. That's why you used drugs in the first place.

A lot of courts now require hair follicle testing. It is normally asked for when the party accused of doing drugs is denying that they have EVER done them. You would want to ask your lawyer to also order a blood or urine test to show that currently you are clean and make that argument to the Court. I'm not sure if the hair follicle tests shows how long ago there was drug use or not.
