So i'm not anti pot, but i haven't been smoking it for a year, but a month ago i made a dumb decision.
I have an onsite interview in about 2 weeks. Most companies in this field tend to do hair test...... not sure if they'd wait until right before i went to work, or if they are gonna drug test me on the site. Some people are telling me they do, but at the same time they said they weren't on their onsite interview The site is about a 14 hour car drive, not sure if that is a factor
Trying to figure out if i should shave my head today or not.
Do they drug test you at onsite interviews (entery level...still in college)?
To my understanding, hair tests can go back 90 days. Most companies do the drug test after they've made you an offer. I've never heard of one doing it while they interviewed you. So continue to do your research, but I'm thinking that, since you smoked pot a month ago, by the time they decide to hire you and ask you in for the drug test, it'll be longer than 90 days since you smoked, and you may be okay.
Even if it's not longer than 90 days, hair grows on average about a half inch every thirty days - so in 60 days, you could have 1.5 inches of hair on your head, post-pot-smoking. Let's say you got your hair cut nice and short now, by a professional stylist, rather than shaved. In preparation for the interview, simply to look good. Get it cut nice and short again just before the drug test, and your "drug" hair may be gone, and you'll be good.
If you agree, then don't shave your head. In my opinion, shaving your head now - unless your hair looks absolutely fabulous and professional that short - will be a red flag. Better to get it cut short now, nice and professional, and get another "trim" before the drug test. Keep the hair length looking normal. Don't make this look obvious, or you'll shave yourself right out of a job.
No matter your decision, make sure that you'll have enough head hair to use, or else they'll have to use body hair. :wince:
