my ex is doing drugs and i am taking him to court to have his rights taken away until he goes threw drug rehab. i need to know how they test the hair? how much they need? (he shaves his head) where will they take it from, and any other details you would like to give me??

from my understanding.. they can take the hair from anywhere (yes, even there)

Hair grows slowly.. and it takes in chemicals that are in the body. so traces of the drug will be in the root of the hair from the past.. 2-3 months I believe...

they don't need much.. as long as they have hair follicle.

And I know that in my county, they usually use a hair follicle test because it can't be "cheated" and doesn't give as many false positives as the urine test.. so it stands up better in court.

Since he does shave his head you may need to go to the extremes and get a blood test or any other tests that they now provide. They need hair that has been on him (or in the growing process) while he was using too.

many courts do it through blood and at the head shops ( where they sells marijuana pipes and drug parfinalia ) they sell something called dirty test. there are a few different ones. the guy drinks it before he gets tested and the test comes out clean. you will be screwed if they do a blood test.

make sure they do a hair test.

I watch the Discovery channels way too much and the only time I've seen them test for drugs using hair samples was when someone was poisoned. They generally take the whole strand, root and all. Of course, it depends on what type of drug(s) your ex is doing/taking as to which test is best to do.
