Do electrician jobs do a lot of drug testing?

I was wondering if electrician jobs do that hair drug test a lot and if they are heavy on drug testing?

Having worked in construction, I can tell you there is a gradient to the quality of worker employers expect.

If you are a Union Electrician or the Wireman for a structure that makes the real money through new construction or maintenance, drug testing is highly likely.

At the other end of the spectrum you have obviously second rate and good for nothing contractors and sub-contractors that will remind you of the "puff-puff-pass" rule.

And you have all kinds of grey area in-between. The more money you make, the more likely it is that you're going to have to pee in a cup.

But, as ellie above mentioned. Maybe it is not such a hot idea to be working with high voltage under the effects of any drug. I haven't seen a house yet that had less than 220 Volts at the breaker box. Some even had 440 Volts (gear heads/home machinists) and Tri-Phase. That **** will kill you.

Well, I am no expert, so I am going to use a little thing called "common sense," which you obviously don't know about. Now, if someone is working with electricity in any capacity, I would think that a company would feel better if they knew that this person was not using acid and seeing pretty little fairies that are begging him to cut the wires. But, that's just me.

  1. Hiring an electrical contractor is an expensive proposition. Trying to install and repair without proper expertise may prove to be dangerous and also result in death.
